Easy nails!

Decided to paint my nails in a design I've done several times on other people, quite easy to do.

So once the kettle had boiled and the tv was on (bear grills and Miranda hearts wild weekend away) I got out my nail painting kit.

Easy peasey!!

Marcel the shell...

So for Christmas, I got an all time favourite gift.

Marcel the shell is a video I find absolutely hilarious, so when my sister and her fiancé came home for a weekend, I thought I'd treat them to some quotes.

This gave them the inspiration for Christmas presents with me in mind.

A book with marcel the shell moments was something I just unwrapped! And I love it!!!!

Thank Rebecca and matt!

Christmas crafts!

Getting closer to Christmas, and I'm getting just as excited as I was at the age of 10! But being a student and being as skint as ever, I thought now was the time to bring out the creative side to me!

I started with some inspiration from my sister, a bay leaf wreath! Something she saw at the Bedgebury craft fair a few weeks ago!

I started by pruning mums overgrown bay tree in the garden, and stealing some bendable wire from my dad.

Piercing the bay leaves individually onto the wire and bending into a circle, I then added things like sliced oranges, dried chillies and cinnamon quills with smaller wire attached between the leaves. Here are some pictures, I hope I have more time to make more things :)

And if I don't post before Christmas, happy Christmas everyone!! Xxx

Getting arty!!

My nail painting evenings are becoming more often, I still love doing it.

Here are some designs I did on myself and housemates last night...

Me- pastel coloured polka dots!
Hayley- red with white polka dots!
Faye- my lovely nerd housemate loves her superheroes, the iconic logos were perfectly suited for her!

You can also see where I painted poppies on my thumb nail too, I was thinking of remembrance day and all the soldiers in the past and today.

Poppies are a beautiful symbol to have for the memories and poppies themselves are lovely flowers. I hope everybody was wearing theirs this weekend :)

Halloween! Last minute scare!

Halloween was going to be a no-no for me, until a couple of my housemates declared they were to celebrate in the great city of Brighton. (near where i am studying)

So, me being at my parents house, i rushed back to the student boudoir. I didn't know what to dress up as, that's when Faye (housemate no.1) brought out her 'wax'. she did amazing things.

Here are some pictures, a warning they are quite gory.

Rhys, Faye and Jack, with a lot of slashes.

Rhys and Jack not too happy about being dead.

The make up artist  herself, talent to be able to do that to yourself!

The beginning of styling my wound! (I'm distracted by my phone)

Admiring the work so far!

Moulding the wax into shape with tools, sorry about my face!

The finished look! p.s. i went as a dead waitress! original!

My bruised shot wound, sooo authentic i couldn't look at it all night!

Us three housemates (the other two didn't come :( )

Faye - dead vampire, Carrie - Dead school girl and Me - dead waitress!

We ended up having a real good night, started with having most people to ours for pre drinks and then went off to 'Madame Geisha' in Brighton. Nice  pub/club with good music and a pleasant atmosphere!

BUT, IT GET'S BETTER...

H&M are launching a whole new collection on, wait for it... Girl with Dragon Tattoo!!!

I don't know if everyone thinks these books are as breathtakingly addictive as i do, but the main character, Salander, is a very withheld, yet intimidating character. The author is brilliant in portraying her like this yet you get an insight into her mind, making it quite personal. Her fashion sense is like her, daring and dark.

Black, grunge, dark, studs, leather, biker, boots, jackets, masculine.

Personally i don't dress anything like this, apart from a couple of studs and maybe a leather jacket, but it's pretty inspiring stuff!

Just from this image alone, you can tell it's gonna be good! :)

Ive only seen the subtitled swedish version of the film, I recommend but only to certain people. There are a few gory parts. I appreciate everything this film stands for though.

Noomi Rapace plays Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish film, she was a brilliant actor and really exceeded my expectations after reading the books.

Rooney Mara play's Lisbeths part in the english film, starring below with Daniel Craig as Blomkvist.

Her clothes in the film are worn, rustic, antique almost. It's also said that they are a form of protection, Her leather jacket for example plays a part in protecting her from the great hates she has for the world, not to mention the authority.

I genuinely can't wait for this to be out!

'In Sickness and in Health'

I was at work the other day, and as you do was reading a magazine.

I found an article about a photographer called Colin Gray, He's done some good stuff.

This series of photographs caught my eye, it's so real and slightly unsettling.

“In Sickness and in Health” forms the final stages of “The Parents” series. Begun in 2000, it shows his parent’s deterioration and, ultimately, his mothers’ death. The hospital and church visits became more frequent, the ailments more serious, the drugs regime ever more complex. Whilst his father struggled with his new role as a carer, Gray found that his photographs helped make sense of the deterioration and loss he was experiencing. Having reached the age his parents were when he started the project, Gray now sees their history in his own future.
